Frank Lentini had 3 legs (plus 16 fingers, and 2 you-know-whats).
He was dubbed as the “Three-Legged Man” and went on to have a very successful career. Him and his attached twin.
Born in 1889, Sicily, Italy, Frank had three legs. Kids called him “Little Monster”.
That extra leg had grown from the right side of his hip, with a foot and a knee. It was caused by a second embryo that started to develop in the womb, but grew with him, as one.
Doctors debated removing the appendage, cutting it off, but feared it would cost him his life. So it stayed. That third leg brought him to the big show, and fortune and fame; the Ringling Brothers circus. He was known as; The Three-Legged Sicilian, The Only Three-Legged Football Player in the World, The Greatest Medical Wonder of All Time,” and “The Great Lentini.” It was a hard way to make a living, but he took it one step at a time. No doubt.
