It’s Martin Joe Laurello, and he was known as the human owl. For he could turn his head 180 degrees, from the front, to the back. Martin was a German-American sideshow performer and biological rarity where he could dislocate various vertebrae to accomplish the feat. He performed with Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Ringling Brothers, and Barnum & Bailey.
Crazy to believe, crazier to see. Martin could see his spine! He lived from 1885 – 1955, and was also known as The Man with the Revolving Head. It gives new meaning to “eyes in the back of your head”, doesn’t it?
